The press conference & launch ceremony of the official website of "The 4th China-Africa Friendship Award " was held on October 19th.This award was jointly organized by the Chinese African People’s Friendship Association(CAPFA) and China Radio International(CRI), Over 100 guests from both China and Africa attended the ceremony, including Mr.Feng Zuoku, Vice President of CAPFA, Mr. Ma Weigong, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of CRI and the representatives from African Diplomatic Corps. The guiding units of this Award are the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the African Diplomatic Corps. On the evening of October 11th , the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the German Embassy in China jointly held event on celebration of 40th Anniversary of Establishment of Diplomatic Relations in National Centre for the Performing Arts. Xu Kuangdi, the former vice chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Yang Jiechi, the Foreign Minister of China, Guido Westerwelle, the Foreign Minister of Germany, Li Xiaolin, the president of CPAFFC, Michael Schaefer, the German Ambassador in China and over 1500 guests were present. In his address, foreign minister Yang Jiechi conveyed the congratulations from the Chinese President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiaobao, to the German President Joachim Gauck and Premier Angela Merkel, for the 40th Anniversary of establishment of China-Germany Diplomatic Relations. Yang Jiechi said, in the last 40 years, the exchange and cooperation between China and Germany had gained substantial achievement, with the development from nonexistence to existence, from low to high frequency, from shallow to depth. Currently, the cooperation between China and Germany was at a new start of history, both sides should respect each other, strengthen the exchange, enhance the mutual trust, enlarge the cooperation, and promote the all-around and continuous development of China-Germany strategic partnership facing the future. CPAFFC President Li Xiaolin said in her address, in the new world situation, the area of cooperation of the two countries was larger; the intensity of the cooperation was stronger. It could be said Germany was a close neighbor of China from far distance. The people from various circles of both countries should make efforts together, to further enhance the peoples’ mutual understanding and friendship. At the invitation of Yuvsstta (Youth Strength Association in Punjab Pradesh), the CPAFFC sent a 30-member delegation organized by youths from Beijing, Tianjin, shanghai and Yunnan province to visit India from Sept.24 to Oct.4. The delegation attended 7th International Youth Peace Festival and exchanged views with youths from different countries. This year’s Peace Festival which themed Peace, guided the youths from the world to have in-depth discussions and exchange ideas on against racial discrimination, environment protection and respect to human right. Nearly 1000 youths from more than 20 countries including China, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Malaysia, Spain, the USA, Germany, Uganda, Mauritius, attended the activities of peace festival. Youth Festival is a great multi-lateral platform for exchanges of youths, and also a profitable channel for the CPAFFC to develop public diplomacy and promoting the friendship of the Chinese and Indian Youths. At the invitation of The Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo), a 20-people CPAFFC youth delegation headed by vice president Li Jianping attended 2nd Russian International Cultural Forum and paid goodwill visit to Russia from Sept. 22 to Oct. 2. This delegation is a part of the project of inviting worldwide youth activists including China to visit Russia, according to the Russian President’s order. The aim of the project is to deepen the youth elites’ objective knowledge on the Russian history, culture, society and social system，thus promote their mutual understanding and friendship. ????? the welcome banquet held by Rossotrudnichestvo During the visit in Russia, the delegation was present at the 2nd Russian International Cultural Forum. At the invitation of CPAFFC, the Union Solidarity and Development Party(USDP) from the Republic of Union of Myanmar send a 5-memeber delegation led by Mr.U Win Myint, Advisor of USDP and former Myanmar Ambassador to Singapore, to visit China from September 22nd to 27th. the delegation visited Beijing and Kunming. The visit is the return visit of China-Myanmar Friendship Association delegation to Myanmar in last August and aims to further the friendship and cooperation between the our sides. the delegation also introduces the preparation work of Myanmar-China Friendship Association, which will be mainly composed by former Myanmar diplomats. In commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Germany, the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) held a ceremony celebrating the first publication for the book Gelebte Geschichte-40 Erfahrung (means "go through the history, experience of 40 German people") , in Peace Palace of CPAFFC on Sept., 18th. Lu Yongxiang, the Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Li Jianping, the Vice President of the CPAFFC, Ma Bohui, the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of China Radio International (CRI), Wang Shu, the former Chinese ambassador in Germany and the President of China-German Friendship Association, Dr. Hardy Boeckle, the Cultural Counsellor of the German Embassy in China, Frank Hartmann, the Press Counsellor of the German Embassy in China were present at the ceremony. In form of interview, the book Gelebte Geschichte-40 Erfahrung introduces 40 Chinese and German personages who are active in the circles of politics, diplomacy, culture & art, and their experience of life reflected in China-German relation. This book was completed by CRI with 7 months’ interview and editing in more than 10 cities. The oldest interviewee is Wangshu, the 88 years old former Chinese Ambassador in Germany, while the youngest is 20 years old Charlotte Landwehr from Germany. ?????? Vice President Li Jianping Addressing the Ceremony In his speech, Vice President Li Jianping of the CPAFFC highly praised the achievements had been made since China and Germany established diplomatic relations 40 years ago. He said, through this book, when we were reviewing the history of the elder generation initiating the Chinese and German mutual relation, we would not only admire their vision and courage, but also believe the future of China-German relation will reach a new high level in new era by summing up the historical experience.? Ma Bohui, the Deputy Editor-in-Chief said, 40 years’ practice had proved, the development of China-German relation served the fundamental interest of both peoples. As the contact of the two countries became closer and closer, the two peoples’s wish for mutual understanding was continuously deepening. History was written by the people. The combined 40 interviews not only sketched the progress of establishment of China-Germany diplomatic relations, but also refracted the personal destinies in the historical trend.

On September, 17, State Councilor Dai Bingguo meets with the Representatives of the 4th China-Vietnam People’s Forum in Beijing. Dai said that the top leaders of both countries had exchanged views since last year and greatly promoted the development of the bilateral relations. He hoped that the two side could work together to consolidate the friendship of the two peoples. Mr. Pham Van Chuong said that the Vietnam side is ready to cooperate with the Chinese side to promote the relations through all kinds of exchanges and activities.
