On May 22, 2025, Vice President Shen Xin of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) attended and delivered opening remarks at the 11th China and Globalization Forum, co-hosted by the CPAFFC and the Center for China and Globalization (CCG). Attendees included Zhang Jun, Secretary-General of the Boao Forum for Asia; Wang Huiyao, President of the CCG; Kyung-wha Kang, President of the Asia Society; as well as approximately 300 representatives from China and abroad. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as economic globalization, international relations, and trade cooperation.
In his speech, Vice President Shen Xin noted that, over the past two decades, economic globalization has made significant contributions to employment, poverty reduction, trade, and public health. However, the rise of deglobalization and anti-globalization trends has posed serious challenges to these gains. In response, China has chosen to remain committed to reform and opening-up, actively uphold multilateralism, promote common prosperity, and embrace innovation while staying true to its founding principles. These efforts have helped bring greater stability and predictability to the international landscape.
Vice President Shen Xin went on to stress that, the path of globalization will not be free of obstacles. All countries need to "shake hands, not raise fists", to "tear down walls, not build barriers", and to "connect, not decouple." As long as we stand on the right side of history, on the side of human progress and civilization, and continue to pursue high-quality development and expand international cooperation through openness and dialogue, the international community will be able to find win-win solutions that make the "cake" of global economy bigger, while ensuring a fairer distribution of its benefits.
On the evening of May 21, prior to the opening of the forum, Vice President Shen Xin hosted a welcome banquet at the CPAFFC for Kyung-wha Kang and other guests attending the forum.
